Do you want to learn Spanish?
Does the thought of memorizing long lists of words make you dizzy? Do you still have nightmares of verb conjugation drills? Does sitting through a 3-hour class after work not sound very appealing?
Hola Spanish presents language instruction in a completely different way! Rather than memorizing long list of words, Spanish is taught in context through stories that are both understandable and entertaining.
Comprehension and understanding will be our focus – NOT Grammar and conjugation. Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling, or TPRS, targets the 100 most frequently used words in the Spanish language. Why bother learning words that are not used that often? Participants also borrow books from the class library for outside reading. Workbook included.
Certified Spanish teacher, Tony Williams, leads this dynamic and highly-engaging program using the latest language-acquisition research. Tony created the beginner-level Spanish curriculum based on TPRS, or Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling. After first learning of this teaching method from fellow teachers, Tony researched and investigated and asked (literally) a million questions. He has attended workshops and conferences in New Jersey, North Carolina and Denver, Colorado. Tony continues to ask questions and share his experiences with other world language teachers both online and face-to-face.
Tony is a graduate of North Carolina State University and has taught for several years. He and his family had the opportunity to live and work in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Mexico City for 12 years. Tony teaches Spanish full-time in Zebulon.
