Parks, Recreation and Cultural Programs
Safe. Transparent. Active. Green. Engaged. These five words, known as S.T.A.G.E., represent the vision of Knightdale's leaders. The inclusion of the words 'active' and 'green' exemplify just how enthusiastic and committed the Town and its citizens are to great parks, active sports programs, and recreational opportunities for all ages. The Knightdale Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Programs Department design its programs around enhances the quality of life for citizens of Knightdale and Eastern Wake County. The department's experienced staff plan, implement, and manage a wide variety of passive, active and cultural opportunities. The Department strives to provide a system of parks, greenways, recreation facilities, and open space areas which will ensure quality recreation opportunities for present and future citizens of Knightdale and Eastern Wake County.
Knightdale Station Park, is the community's newest central gathering space, opened daily from dawn until dusk located at 810 North First Avenue This new central park includes a playground, dog park, walking/running trails and athletic fields. (map, directions)
Harper Park located on Main Street features five picnic areas with grills, two of which are covered, a gazebo, and a children's play area.
Easter Egg Hunt. The Easter Egg Hunt is held the Saturday before Easter weekend. There are plenty of eggs for everyone ages 8 and under. Each egg contains a toy or candy. Each participant will also obtain a small gift, although quantities are limited. Plan to meet the Easter Bunny while at this event.
Tree Lighting Celebration. The Tree Lighting Celebration is held at the Knightdale Station Park on First Avenue the Friday before the Christmas Parade at 6:00pm - 7:30pm.
Christmas Parade. Bring in the Holiday season with the annual Christmas Parade held the first Saturday in December at 2:00pm in downtown Knightdale. You'll want to arrive early and take advantage of the Park & Ride Shuttle from the Wal-Mart parking lot so you won't miss a single float!
Summer Camp. Campers ages 5-13 participate in arts & crafts, sports, games, aquatics, and field trips. Registration begins in April. Camp normally runs for 8 weeks during the summer.
Youth Basketball. For ages 5-17, youth basketball registration begins in August with practice beginning in late October.
T-Ball, Baseball, Softball. Spring ball of ages 4-17. Registration begins in February with practices beginning in April.
